DCIC and UBOS meet over the e-visa system

Tuesday, June 27, 2017

The Directorate of Citizenship and Immigration Control (DCIC) has today, 27th June 2017 met with officials from the Uganda Bureau of Statistics (UBOS) led by Principal Statistician Wilson Nyegenye. This is the latest in a series of meetings that DCIC has been having with various stakeholders with an aim of making the already hugely successful e-visa system even much better. DCIC has previously met Uganda Revenue Authority (URA), Uganda Tourism Board (UTB), and Uganda Tour Operators among others and is yet to meet more stakeholders.

The team leader of the DCIC team Mrs. Margaret Kabugho Bwambale welcomed the UBOS team and told them that DCIC’s key aim is to make the e-system the most effective, efficient and user friendly online application system, not only for the applicants but the government of Uganda generally. “We have been having a challenge generating accurate immigration data and it is in this spirit that this discussion will help us to generate ideas on how to improve the statistical data collection from the system”, she further told the visiting UBOS team. The UBOS team which had earlier been taken through the e-visa application process was happy with the system and acknowledged that with more improvements, there will not be need to use cards at entry and exit points of the country. They proposed that the system is enhanced to capture more data regarding all immigration facilities
