Statement from the Directorate of Citizenship and Immigration Control on the Passport Receiving and Delivery Centre at the Post Office Building, Kampala Road

Date:
Tuesday, June 30, 2015

The Passport receiving and delivery centre at the post office building was opened with a view to implement provisions of Finance Bill for FY 2015/16 that caters for the establishment of express passports.

The center was meant to serve Normal Passport applicants who would in the new FY pay UGX. 150,000. The express passport applicants who shall be paying UGX 300,000 would then be handled at the Ministry head quarters as has been the case.
As you may be aware, passport office once operated at this same premise, and re-establishing one at the same location was meant to offer our people better service since it would be convenient. However, the circumstances in the premises have since changed and continuing to operate there would be quite challenging in terms of security and efficiency.

Management of passport Office has therefore decided to return all the services of passport issuance (Both normal and Express Passport) to the Passport control at located at the ministry Head quarters at plot 75, Jinja Road (entrance at Old Portbell Road).

This is therefore to inform the general public that both the Normal and Express Passport applicants shall be served at the Ministry head quarters with effect from Tuesday 30th June, 2015 at 8:00AM. Priority shall be given to the 170 applicants who turned up at the post office on 29th June 2015.
The Directorate of Citizenship and Immigration Control highly regrets all inconveniences caused.
