DCIC Holds Awareness camp in Arua
The Directorate of Citizenship and Immigration Control (DCIC) has this week been in Arua on a Public Awareness campaign of its services and its regional offices at the Ministry of Justice Building in Nsambya, Arua Town. Among the activities held was a meeting with the security committee chaired by the Deputy RDC Arua, Mr. Toko Swaibu in the RDC’s office on Monday 5th June 2017 attended by the RISO, DISO, RPC, and the DPC among other security gurus in the District. The immigration team was led by the spokesperson, Mr. Jacob Siminyu and the North West Region Immigration Head Mr. Bataringaya Leopold and other officers from the DCIC PRO’s office and the Arua Office. In the meeting, the members shared with the Immigration team the challenges that they are facing, especially accruing from the influx of foreigners and refugees in the region as well as border and cross border challenges among other immigration related challenges. A discussion was thereafter held that discussed those and other immigration related issues.
A community engagement meeting was held the ext day, on Tuesday 6th June 2017 at the Arua Hill Grounds with Mr. Toko as the guest of honor in which the locals shared with the Deputy RDC and the Immigration team their experiences in regards to immigration services as well as a question and answer session with the locals. There was also drive advertising and door to door engagements with the relevant stakeholders; the locals for passport information and the foreigners for matters regarding work permits, student passes, special passes, the E-Visa and online payment among others. Traffic at the Arua office has already multiplied seven fold and over as a result of this campaign.
